The TerraGarden roots float directly in the water that they grow in, this results in high water efficiency - reducing the amount of maintenance that the system needs! Refill on average once every 2-3 weeks.
Experience higher yields and faster growth as the TerraGarden provides the perfect nutrient balance and light exposure that your plants need to grow.
Modern design fits in most kitchens or living rooms - just metres away from your plate. Save the trip to the supermarket and harvest fresh herbs when you need them!
By growing food in your own home, you reduce the distance food travels to get to you - resulting in a fresher meal on your table and fewer emissions from food miles! Yay environment!
The lights themselves replicate the wavelength of light that plants need to grow. This wavelength is usually a small band of blue light between 400 and 500 nm, and red light between 600 and 700 nm which when combined result in a purple glow. The white light LED diodes in this product emit a lot of blue light, and the red lights provide the red light. When combined it provides all the light that most plants need to grow! See our FAQ for more on how growlights are different to normal lights
There are 17 essential elements requried for plant growth. Three of these are carbon, hydrogren and oxygen (which the plant gets from water and air), the rest are macronutrients (Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphate) and Micronutrients (Calcium, magnesium, sulfur, boron, chlorine, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, molybdenum, and nickel). Most fertilisers only have the three macronutrients at best. In comparison our Hydroponic nutrients contain 14 essential elements required for plant growth! All you need to do to use it is mix it in with water and watch as your plant grows! You can find way more detail on how hydroponic nutrients work in our faq.
The plant is held in rockwool - which is the product of a molten rock that has been heated and spun like fairy floss. Rockwool provides uniform oxygenation for a plant's roots, as well as a stable medium for the plant to be secured by. Germinating seeds in rockwool has a 90% success rate if you make sure to wet the seeds! Once the roots grow out of the rockwool, they simply float in our hydroponic nutrient water and grow. providing you with soil-free growing that makes this product perfect for your kitchen! This Terragarden has 12 rockwool growing pods! So you can grow a variety of your favourite herbs and leafy greens such as lettuce, basil, coriander, parsley, rocket and more! All you need to get started are seeds and nutrients of your choice!
Well to be honest there's not much to say - we don't get many Terragarden questions, probably because its so easy to setup and get running, but here are a few tips from our FAQ.
Yep, our smart gardens don't do anything tricky that would stop you from growing your own seeds - you can pickup seeds from your garden, nursery, or even from that avocado you ate for lunch, and use it in our smart gardens to grow whatever you want! The only constraint is the height of the product, as plants that grow over 30cm will out grow the light!
Generally we like to grow herbs and leafy greens, as well as flowers, small fruiting plants etc. A few examples of what you can grow include: Nasturtiums, Tomatoes (if dwarfed correctly), Genovese Basil, Cos Lettuce Seeds, Paris Island Cos Lettuce, Violets - Johnny Jump Up, and Bloomsdale Long Standing Spinach.
The detailed answer for this is pretty long - you should check out our FAQ on how hydroponic nutrients work.
This is the 2nd Terragarden I have purchased as I wanted my son to have one in his new home. He loves having fresh greens to eat every day! Mine has expanded into quite a big set up now with other hydro pots and lights all around it in my kitchen. Its a talking point for all who visit! I just couldnt love it more!
Truly great team of people and the products are high quality and super simple to setup and it just works. Bought some as gifts for family members just perfect!
I bought the TerraGarden recently and about a week in, already have a variety of seeds germinating. Planning to buy another one to try and grow strawberries!
Hi Guys. Well finally got home and unpacked. Just got back with my 10 Terra Gardens from Urban Plant Growers. It was terrific to be able to look at the systems and make a choice. ( after picking one type and not being certain I’d made the right choice) I finally made a decision. It was also Awesome to be able to see and talk to Tamara and Dilhan about how and what to try to hopefully succeed in my venture. ( I found them extremely helpful and I appreciate the time you gave to me in this busy time of year) awesome service it’s really special when the faces behind the product are willing to help. I’m looking forward to being able to grow Fresh Herbs for my restaurant. I’ll up date as time goes and I’m interested in weather or not this is a viable option for me to be able to 1. provide a fresh grown product. 2. save on packaging from purchasing my Herbs in plastic and elastic. 3. consistent availability to provide at least 2 bunches a day for 5 days a week trading. I’ll continue to update as time goes by. Thanks so much. Fabiano Papadinos Restaurant Katoomba.
I have enjoyed nurturing my hydro garden so much that I have bought one for my sister. I am on my 2nd batch now and high recommend for anyone starting out. Fresh herbs, tomatoes and strawberries are the best! It’s so rewarding and so easy to grow your own! Thé subscription is really handy too.
Incredibly simple to set up, very small footprint, and I'm seeing sprouts within 2 weeks! This will be a cost effective and easy way to make sure I always have fresh herbs on hand.
easy set up and just 2 weeks in i have a lovely green area in my kitchen! Have started buying the smaller set ups for presents.. Just love it!!!
Purchased a few weeks ago and I'm really enjoying watching the herbs grow.
Absolutely love this addition. Could do with a more in-depth guide or even a link to an online "How to" for growing, harvesting, watering etc
I love my TerraGarden! The kit came with everything you need to get started in hydroponics. I had 100% success rate with all 12 pods growing to 8 inches in 3 weeks (I planted basil, tomato, mint and rocket seeds)! I’m not naturally a green thumb so thats very motivating. Happy customer!
Hey Claire, That is fantastic! 100% success rate is pretty good. Thanks for your positive review. Charlotte
Great system for indoors. I planted a variety of seeds and have watched with fascination how fast and well everything grows. I just purchased my second one and can see myself buying more as my hobby takes off. It’s great to have the unit, pump, lights, fan all in one compact unit. Highly recommended.
A great value system that's easy to set up and use. I love that it has twelve spots for plants as so many other brands I looked at had less but were still charging a similar price. It also looks great on the kitchen counter. The lights are very bright, so better to set it up where that won't disturb you at night.
