Get sprouting, you won’t regret it!
The embodied energy in a seed provides it with enough oomph to get it sprouting and putting out roots. This means that you can grow leaf/sprout mass without using any soil or nutrients at all! Sprouts typically grow for up to two weeks before they run out of energy and their growth start slowing, but you can usually eat them from the 1 week mark onwards!
There are heaps of benefits to growing sprouts - just to name a few:
According to webmd, there are a range of health benefits attributed to growing sprouts including Lower blood sugar levels, Improved digestive health, Improved heart health, and they’re a great source of calcium, potassium, magnesium, folate and beta carotene.
All you need to grow sprouts is a jar, seeds, and water! That’s because sprouts don’t need light (although it may help a day or two before harvesting to give them a burst of colour), and they also don’t need nutrients from soil or fertlisers as they get all of their energy and food from the seed they come from!
If you buy fully grown sprouts at the supermarket, it will come in a plastic container. You can cut the need to consume that entirely by growing sprouts yourself. Best of all, our 25 and 100g seed sachets are 100% upcycled paper!
That’s right! When seeds germinate, they shoot out their first set of leaves and pump energy from the seed into those leaves until they are large enough to support the growth of more leaves. This early growth means you can harvest microgreens in 1-2 weeks depending on the type of seed you are using.
All the goodness of sprouts can be grown within a 1L mason jar!
Growing sprouts is cheap, you can get 1kg of alfalfa seeds on our website for $39.99. That 1kg turns into 18kg worth of fully grown sprouts in just 7 days!
There is such an awesome range of sprouts, all with unique flavours that can spice up any dish. Better yet – sprouts are used in several cuisines, from the heavy use of mung bean and pea sprouts in Chinese cooking, to the use of fenugreek in Indian dishes, and alfalfa in pretty much any western salad, sandwich or wrap.
Finally, sprouts are fun to grow. Because you can see them grow so fast, it’s an exciting to come home every day and see the change in growth! P.S. growing sprouts is a great activity to do with the kids.

I'm new to sprouting. Urban Plant Growers' Mason jars are perfect for growing sprouts and micro-greens. I keep several on rotation and have harvested dozens of batches of Broccoli sprouts since purchasing. The mesh lids make rinsing very easy and quick. Urban Plant Growers' staff are very friendly too.
Hi Luke, That's so great to hear! So happy we could be of help and that your sprouts are going well. From Charlotte (Urban Plant Growers)
Easy, quick, delicious. Why did it take me so long to get one?
So happy you loved it, Olivia! Thanks for the review. From the Urban Plant Growers Team.
I have been growing sprouts over a few years, using a combination of different jars, muslin cloths, tray. I have sprouted alfalfa, radish, lentils and broccoli so far. The Speedy Sprouter has worked really well, the stand is great and I don't need to put my jars into the dish rack now. Also the stainless steel lid and mesh work much better and are cleaner than muslin cloth. Overall, very happy and will keep using these for my sprouts.
Great service, speedy delivery. Very happy with my purchase. So easy to use. Loving my sprouts.
I’ve never grown sprouts before, so I did a small test with the pea seeds. They grew so quickly! The kit and instructions are so easy to follow! If you’re worried about bacterial growth, you can buy some apple cider vinegar from the shops and do a single rinse with it before rinsing with water before you eat.
Great company. Quality products. Our mail came on time with no issues. We are currently using the kit and having lots of success with sprouting.
I have used other sptouters which did not work well. I was able to do in a cloth but that's a bit inconvenient. This jar makes the whole process comfortable and easy. I could even ask my child to do it. The main reason I stopped using an old sprouter was because of the mould. This product helped me grow sprouts without worrying about the mould because it has a way to let air pass through and the water also gets drained when put at an angle using the stand. I would recommend this product
The speedy spouters arrived so quick. They look great on the kitchen bench and seem to grow the sprouts more effectively than what I was using before.
I am wrapped with the sprouting jar and have now grown three batches of Alfalfa Sprouts. The kits was well priced and does a great job. I was about to purchase some more sprout seeds however the postage was a lot for a few packets of seeds so I ended up buying these at a local health food store.
Very, very, very nice!
Overall easy to use and fun to watch
Excellent so far onto 2nd lot of sprouts and have made this jar a mixture of the salad pea alfalfa and fenugreek going well smells and looks great Unlike the sprouting broccoli that had hardly any sprouts persisted with the routine until the smell got too much and put them in the garden no sprouting in soil either Have one more packet of broccoli and will try again Over all excellent produce easy and straight forward to use and delicious results
